engine wdx question

You've heard it before but I'm looking for more info. I have a 46wdx and I'm wondering if you can use the stock trans and bellhousing with a small block chevy? I'm putting a 4bt cummins in mine which has the adapter for chevy trans but I'd rather keep the crash box if I can. I've articles about coldwells 47wdx with a chevy v8 but nothing really tells me what I'm looking for. Thanks for any help. Bob Jr
