Once you see a 3/4t next to a 1-ton, the main thing you'll notice is the size of the running gear. Axles, brakes, diffs, and drive lines are much heftier in a 1 ton. Noticeable especially from the rear. Funny you should ask "what's the diff?" Dana 60 vs. Dana 70. See link below.
