1/4 TON IS THE DIFFERENCE AND YOU CAN GENERALLY TELL THE DIFFERENCE BY THE NUMERICAL INSIGNIAS ON THR BODY OF THE TRUCK.
EXAMPLE:on older vehicles,D-100=1/2TON,
D-200=3/4TON, D-300=1-TON. NEWER VEHICLES WILL BE D-150, D-250, D-350 AND SOME MAKES NOW USE 1500, 2500, 3500.
3/4-TON AND 1-TON TRUCKS BOTH USE A FULLFLOATING AXLE. IF YOU BREAK A FULLFLOATING AXLESHAFT THE TRUCK IS STILL ABLE TO ROLL ON THAT WHEEL AS THE WHEEL IS ATTACHED TO THE HUB AND NOT THE AXLE SHAFT.
3/4-TON TRUCKS USE A SINGLE WHEEL SETUP AND
THE 1-TONS USUALLY USE A DUAL WHEEL SETUP.
OUR FF PWs USE A SINGLE WHEEL SETUP AS A GENERAL RULE BUT USED TIRES WITH A HIGH LOAD RATING. THERE ARE DUAL SETUPS ON FF PWs BUT SINGLE IS THE MOST COMMON. CHECK WITH A GARAGE THAT WORKS MOSTLY ON TRUCKS AND SOMEONE WILL SHOW YOU AND POINT OUT THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A FULLFLOATING AXLE AND NON-FLOATING.
