I should have mentioned I am going there with my Dad. He wants to see what it looks like these days. As a college student in the 60’s, he worked for the park service- surveyed for topo maps, laid out campgrounds and even designed a small bridge near Gates of Ladore.

He spent that whole summer driving Park Service Power Wagons and Town Wagons. They would be in the boonies for days at a time. Occasionally driving a truck to Green River Wyoming for repair. Not until I brought home my WC53 did he really get an appreciation for Dodges, though. In those days he was a faithful Ford man. He helped a local guy put a Model A sport coupe together from parts. They robbed nuts and bolts off an old truck that had been shoved off the bank into the Green River. By nightfall, they drove the Model A around the Echo Park overlook for a victory lap.
