I've had two Grand Cherokees, both Limiteds with 4WD, from new to over 140,000 miles. The first one I had was flawless! 18 to 22 mpg with the fulltime 4WD and the 318. The second one was a strong runner also but developed an axle howl at 60,000 miles, Jeep replaced the entire axle, and axle housing complete, under warrantee ( at 96,000 miles under a 100,000 mile drive train warantee!) it has run excellent since then, I suspect that the Grand Cherokee and Dodge Ram axle problems are the BIG reason that Dodge has swithed to American Axle in lieu of DANA for 2003.
