If you've gone through all that, drill through the mounting stud and run your wire there. No need to deal with a grommet or water infiltration in to the cab either. Just put a bullet connector on a short pigtail to make putting the washer and nut on a lot easier. My brother is an electrician and I know he likes to hide everything so that nobody knows he's even been around. Car wiring as a work of art.
