I have not had that problem, but the other day I changed my oil and filter, and found that the rubber gasket from the filter stuck to the oil filter fitting on the engine. If I had not noticed the missing gasket on the filter...and I am stunned that I did!...I might have put on the new filter and had double gaskets which would have led to certain leakage...
Also I always go for a 3/4 turn after finger tight.
