The ability to "Top Truck" has more to do with the willingness to assorb body damage than the type of vehicle. There is no reason that a modified PW couldn't perform just as well as any of those trucks, if the driver was just as imature and reckless, and willing to cut up a piece of history. I watch guys literally beat the crap out of their trucks to go where I can putt. Sure 2 mph is not glamorous, but it works!
