THE COIL WON'T MAKE A SPARK UNLESS THE BRAIN TELLS IT TO!

You can't expect a spark at the coil without a condenser, and on these chrysler electronic system, that is one of the things the box does. If my 27 year old memory is correct, you can check the distributor pick-up system with a voltmetere- the old kind, watch the needle wiggle.- it will make a pulse when the reluctor (fancy name for magnet) passes the pick-upcoil. It IS a generator. the brain box then fires the igntion coil. If you have a loose distributor, hook up a meter to it, give it a spin, see if the needle wiggles, try it on the lowest voltage scale. Then try it on the one in the truck, now you'll have to crank it. If you want to check the coil, I guess you can try hooking a loose condenser to the ground side , then touch a wire from ground to the neg side also, when wire is lifted, coil should spark. Have the key turned on to try that.
