I have a 61 w100 with the 6 bolt axles. The info I have says the axles are spicer or
chrysler rather than dana's. I have considered changing to 8 bolt rims/hubs/.... stuff to
make getting parts easier. The easiest method I have found is to pickup a donor
Chevy/GMC/Dodge with 3/4 rating or 12000 lbs camper special. The springs are the
same width and the spring pads welded to the axles are the correct width. Boyce
Equipment in Salt Lake City advertizes rebuilt complete dana 60 & 70 axles for
$1100.00 - Alot less than converting your old axles.
If you decide to remove you old 6 bolt stuff like me know how much you want for the old
axles, rims, etc. I am interested in getting them for spares.
Changing over to the newer axles also makes it easier to convert to a newer
powersteering box and components.
Good luck
