Right then, using the serial number listings from the Master parts List (as reproduced in "Dodge Military Vehicles Collection No 1") It looks like it will be 8162, as the lowest chassis number it could be would be 81529001. If it is 81621397 then it was made in the last contract, W-374-ORD-2864, which was the only ordnance contract as the others were all Quartermaster and/or Defense Aid. The hood number range would be 20260793 to 20261257, and it would be one of 465 made on that contract, presumably to use up components once the decision had been taken to obselete the Carryall body type. This matches the body number fairly well too, 42 is for 1942, 49 for a Carryall, and 7442 is the sequential body number. Since they made 8000+ WC53s your body number is towards the end of production and matches the rest fairly well. I have heard that the last production of Carryalls came without the spare wheel carrier and spare wheel (they were to be issued as administrative vehicles) and that some came with non-military tyres (for the same reason) Gordon
