If you went the best, get Michelin 9.00R16 XLs (directional mud) or XZLs (non-directional mud, slightly less aggressive). Size/max. load: XL 36.1", 3525 lbs/65psi; XZL 36.8", 3750/65psi emergency 4675/80psi. Both have all steel sidewalls, 1ply sidewall, 4 sply tread, very thick sidewall rubber. They are definitely the best. They fit perfectly on 6.5" split rims with radial tubes and flap of course. I have gotten them for as little as $250 each but normally you'd be lucky to get them for more.

PS Don't let your typical passenger car/LT dealer tell you "they aren't available" "they aren't in the book". They exist, tehy are available, Michelin HQ in S. Carolina will be happy to point you to them.
