We had ice all over everything for a few days here so I was going to take my truck to town. When the truck started the starter stuck on due to ice on the starter jamming it up. I shut off the key and the starter kept on spinning. I jumped out of the truck and tried to open the hood but it was iced shut. I ran to the shop and opened up the garage door and grabbed a half inch wrench out of the tool box and ran back to the truck to unhook the battery cable. The starter was still spinning happily as I yanked off the cable. The ice has melted off now and my 40 year old 6V starter fed by 12V still works just fine. It must have spun for at least a minute.

After the above described misadventure I decided not to go down Icy Mountain Road after all. Sometimes the truck is smarter than the owner.
