This year's rally will be held at the same location as last year, Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area, about 1 hr. south of San Jose, Ca. Dates: May 16, 17 and 18th. (mark you calendars....now!)
The park has a total of 3200 acres, divided into two sections. 2400 acres are set aside for motorcycle and ATV use only, with 64 miles of trails and hillclimbs(lower ranch). 800 acres are set aside for 4 wheel drive vehicles, with 24 miles of trails(upper ranch). Park elevations range from 660 feet to 2425 feet. We will have the entire area 5 group camp, located within the upper ranch, reserved.
This is not rock crawling territory, but that's not to say there isn't plenty of challenging trails. Trails are rated much like ski runs, with green, blue, black diamond and triple black diamond ratings. Last year we broke into two trail groups with one being more difficult than the other. I think I got mixed in with the wrong group, but when it was all done, I was glad to have gone on the more difficult run.
Registration forms and info will be posted on this and other forums next month.
Now this is only January and the rally isn't until mid-May, so there's no excuse for not getting a truck(or two)ready by then.
