Normally, on my B3PW I have a set of chains I made from road grader chains, they have cross links every third link! they weigh about 125 lbs each!! But they sure do work good!!!
These are sized to fit my 12x36x16 Buckshot mudder tires. I have two sets of military surplus 9.00 16 chains I use on the regular tires, and I use standard chains ( LaGrande 'cam-lock type) for the TSL Boggers I am presently running on the B3PW.
I am just used to standard straight cross link chains, The new zig-zag or full coverage chains are supposed to be OK, but I understand they load up in deep mud and don not clean as well. I would also think they would be more difficult to install very tightly.(mainly due to weight) My experience shows standard chains will clean easily while in use. They are an absolute must on ice or when there is ice under packed snow. I have never seen the need for 'V' bar type chains, at least on the west coast. I have watched front axles be destroyed when running chains on the front axle only!! Even after installing as tight as possible, I still use rubber chain tighteners (Even on the LaGrandes) Have fun!! Be safe!! John
