....far less rabid, extreme left liberals who believe the Second Amendment is about the Nat'l Guard and duck hunting, and that the police have a duty to protect you.

As for the first mis-belief, the 5th circuit (New Orleans) in 2000 declared "the people" referred to in the 2nd Amd are the same "people" referred to in the 1st, 4th, and 14th amendments - and hence - the 2nd Amd guarantees an individual, not "collective" right to keep and bear arms.

As for the second mis-belief, in 1887 and 1982 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the police have no duty or obligation to provide protection to any particular individual, but only to the "public at large". This is why it's virtually impossible to sue any police dept if you call 911 when someone breaks into your house at 3:48 a.m., and while waiting for the PD to arrive, someone in your house (including you) gets shot or killed.

For more on the second point visit http://www.jpfo.org and click on "Dial 911 And Die".

That website is Jews For the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. It's members are survivors of the Holocaust, and they say first hand that beginning in the 1930's, Germany started passing a series of "common sense" gun laws.

The laws culminated in registration of all firearms, and denied Jews firearms ownership. After Hitler came into full power, the SS used the gun registration lists to confiscate - door to door - all firearms from Jews.

'Nuff said.....
