If the grill has several separate chevrons on the lower half of the grill instead of a single, solid plate, and if the headlights are mounted on pedestals inside of the crease of the front fenders and have small parking lights mounted on top of the headlights, and if the wheels are 6 lug on 6-inch centers and are solid disk (without cutouts like Budd wheels have), then the truck is most likely a 1940. A previous owner may have replaced the fenders and headlights with later ('41 and on) units. Later trucks also had cowl lights on the front sides of the cab. Just a few things to look for if you want to positively identify the truck's year.
