H: I don't know the answer to your imaginative solution, but don't think it would work. From foggy memory of drive line diagrams, a drive shaft with a double U joint at one end (say the top end) usually enters the pumpkin pretty much straight on (in line with the pinon) at the other end. Seems to me having two double U joints, one on each end of a drive shaft, would be unstable and really cause it to wobble, especially at speed, where is where you want things calm. Your proposal might work at low speeds, however. I'm where Thomas A. Edison was before success. I know many things that don't work but have not yet discovered what does work with an offset rear axle driven from the inner/upper yoke on a transfer case (other than a late WW II WC 3/4 ton centered rear axle). :(
