Randy,
The truth always hurts & I can understand why you'd be so hurt by my opinion that you can't even post your real email address, because it hurts me too.
Listen, I am a Dodge truck fanatic. I also feel that Ford has built good to excellent trucks over the years. If you read my post carefully you'll see that I also wrote that the transmission in my Ford is also sub-standard. I guess my comment stating that he would be an uneducated fool who didn't agree that the Allison was the best automatic may have been a little harsh & unfair so let me rephrase it...they have not done thier research yet.
Not only is the Allison the best transmission of the three, it's so far superior that they cannot be compared.
I agree with Dan, the Dodge automatic will run trouble free for years, so long as your using your truck as a car & not as a tow vehicle. There are also performance aftermarket torque converters etc that will extend transmission life, but all these things make me just that much more unsatisfied...why cannot Dodge & Ford for that matter make parts that equal the aftermarket crap?
I just think this is a big issue...these trucks cost as much as some homes & the prices they now command have gotten so outrageous that I feel it is a fair expectation to get a vehicle that won't cost a small fortune to maintain.
Who on earth would by a diesel in the first place if heavy towing wasn't in their plans?
Believe me, this is not something I want to argue about...call a transmission shop, there is no argument. My hope is that if word spreads that people are not going to stand for this crap, it is my opinion that Chrysler is FULLY capable of solving these problems.
I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings....it's only my opinion...& one that is shared by the many people in the automotive industry.
