Well I suppose I should put in my 1 cent on this whole deal. What started out as a problem with newer vehicles turned into everything else.

Marty if you dont like the newer trucks get the 93 and back truck. But dont be scared to get the newer trucks. They are good trucks and can work hard like any other truck before its time.

I have a 95 Ram 1500 and a 97 D200 and there are differences but a lot of things similair.

You can work on the newer trucks. My 95 spits out codes via the check engine light which you can match in the book and fix. Its actually rather easy. I have had a few problems with the 95 but a vehicle is a vehicle and no matter what it is it will give you some fits every once in a while.

As for plastic and lighter parts there are lots more compared to my old 74 D200. BUT weight is not that far off so theres still some steel somewhere. Didnt I read somewhere a extended cab 1 ton is around 7000lbs?!?!

I will admit somethings piss me off like plastic door handles and other things that could break easily compared to my old 74 D200.

Government laws on emissions and MPG and safety make all this what it is. Right or wrong thats how it is.

They dont make em like they used too. Long time ago people cared about their products and making the customer happy.

Bottom line now is the stock market and profit.

In the end Marty get the truck you want but dont be scared about buying the newer Ram's. I know lots of people who have the newer Ram's and know of one that is up over 450000 miles.

I did get a chuckle out of Chris Lublin....sitting in front of a computer using electricity hooked to the internet talking about plowing with mules! HAHA! I sure hope you spent every day sun up to sun down cutting wood last summer.....its gonna be a long cold winter!
