Shouldn't cost more than $2,000; $1,000 for a stock rebuild if you pull and re-install yourself. Got a copy of Hot Rod or a 4X4 magazine, there's rebuilt E4OD's in there for much less than $2K and they'll handle a lot more than the factory piece ever thought about. My sister's 6 cylider F-150 blew the E4OD about 5 years ago and it cost us about $1,400 including towing and all labor, and they had to replace almost everything but the case!
