i have a late 80's dana 44 that uses the vacuum pot shift on the fly ,the complete assy is bad,even the housing is bent (i think)
my question for the gurus is...........can i use a mid 70's style D44 full time hubless unit housing and inner axles,and put my later steering knuckles and outer stub axles and spindles on it and end up with a partime axle assy with lockouts(which i already have),and do away with the vacuum shiftpot axle housing completely,i know ill have to lock in the hubs and stop to shift the transfer case into gear,i just need to know if my later knuckles will work on the older housing????????
