3% difference in weight

If you consult your steel vendor's spec book, you will find that 304 stainless is just a hair over 3% higher in weight. Consequently, given a trailer that weighed 3000 lb in black iron, it would weigh almost 100 pounds more. That difference would be neglibile. By the time you add paint and possibly undercoating to the trailer made from hrs steel, the difference would not amount to much. The extra parts we throw on the load as an after thought are likely to far exceed the 100 pound mark.

I like to buy things once. A stainless trailer has a lot of appeal. Other than the brakes, leaving it outside would be of no consequence.

Actually, diesels provide good value, too. There is a difference between price and value.
