A FIRE/BRUSH TRUCK

I knew I had seen this truck before it was a woodie. It was fore sale at the time I down loaded this photo. I thought at the time it was great brush truck just as it was. What a dilemma. Tough choices to make.

I too have considered a woodie project. We all dream.... My project would be to make the PW a woodie panel truck rather than a station wagon. But on the same body style as the Cantrell bodied Power Wagon. See photo # 15 and #28 to #61 of Joe’s woodie page.

A panel body is perhaps a bit more fitting to the truck than a station wagon. Especially in the Cantrell style it would be a much simpler a task as there would be panels replacing the extra side windows and doors. There would be two side swing doors at the back instead of a tailgate. The floor could be more utility without the extra seats. The square fitting of the rear body corners, roof, and doors would be simpler to construct than the Campbell body station wagon. Also it would have nice side panels for name/graphics.

How about an open cab woodie? A phaeton woodie with open canvas top as in an old National Park and Lodge touring coach with three or four seat rows.

Or maybe a wide body camper with a hip roof? All kinds of specialized bodies could be built. Most all old trucks came as cab and chassis and the rest was built from there to fill what ever need. Look at the old photos.

After all it would be a woodie creation of our dreams no matter what way we go. Can’t all have a real Campbell Power Wagon Woodie.
