This is a very easy to build , reliable engine. Longevity should be no different than a stocker. The only special part would be the pistons which are available right off the shelf.

My guess for HP/TQ is about 100 of each more than the original 383. I would estimate about 350/450.

Your stated use is exactly how I use mine. I have only towed a good load with it one time so far. I towed an AC D-14 tractor on a heavy tandem axle trailer. Dry weight on the tractor is about 4,200 lbs, the trailer, I am sure, was over 2,000. Very heavy trailer. Total had to be near 12,000 gross. One hill I had to pull was a long 5% grade and I topped it over 60 MPH no trouble. Could have gone much more but I had to load the tracter too far forward to get it all on so it was a bit squirrely. I am quite pleased with the way this thing runs.
