Thinking out loud on re/assembly, Question??

I was thinking that I could put the engine, transmission, transfer case and all drive lines and linkage on befor I put the body back on. Will this work other then the parts that hook to the cab? Just seemed like it would be easier to do just standing next to it to work on it. Is this how you guy do the off frame restore? Any real draw backs to doing it this way? Thanks, Mark H.
