Dave, where have you been lately?

I use a variation the "hot and running" method. I first get the engine good and warmed up. I then get help from Martie to operate the engine from within the cab. I pick a valve and insert the feeler gauge and get the wrenches in position, have her start the engine, and adjust till I get a good gap, or the wrenches and/or feeler gauge fall out (whichever come first). Have her shut off the engine, go on to the next, etc. We go through all of the valves and then let the truck run for awhile. Then, we do it all over again. I usually go through this routine three times before I am comfortable with the adjustment.

As far as Martie is concerned, this ranks right up there with brake bleeding on the exitement scale. A nice dinner out is usually in order later.

Any more vibrations from Gus?

Clint
