When say daily driver you might want to think seriously if this is the vehicle for you especially when considering freeway driving- because in its original configuration it ain't going to be a freeway driver. I'm sure you know that these are OLD technology and NOt able to keep up wit the demands of high speed driving. Otherwise they are great for slow hard work. Of of course you can hop it up but then of course you sacrifice its originality and all that goes along with it such as retaining its collector value. Also its not just a matter of a bigger engine and higher road gears. You have to consider the safety side such as old style brakes, non collapsing stearing collumn, no seat belts( an easy fix), etc, etc. Please don't let me discourage you from buying a flat fender. Just remember what it is- a classic 4x4. Not a Dodge Ram.
