and have no engine problems at all. 140k and still running like new. i looked inside valve cover recently & it still looks new. i burn about 1/2 quart between 3500 mile oil changes. you can run the oil much much longer, but the particulates in the oil do the same damage as if you used conventional. my father and i own a trucking company. we are constantly pitched by vendors who pitch their oil brand and state with the right synethetic and oil filters, and a replenishment system, oil changes can be performed every 150k. some have even showed us real documentation from engine manufactures that this is acceptable and wont void warranty. sounds good in someone elses trucks! the pms that my mechanics do including oil and filter changes give the mechanics the chance to prevent problems down the road. i will always run mobil 1 in my gmc trucks and will run it in my v8 dodge when it is done. i dont know about using it in the flathead. mine seems happy on its diet of 30wt. mannyc
