air leak in line ?

Yes, that is how the stock system worked, just switch valve to the tank with gas in it. You might have a bad fuel pump, bad rubber hose, or an air leak in the fuel system, Leak might be thru a crack in a steel line or poissibly thru the shaft in the valve. And being a swap, I'll bet that there is a piece of rubber hose stuck over a raw end of a steel ine somewhere. The rough end of the steel will cut the inside of the ruber hose wich can detach and plug the line.You should de-burr and round off the ends of steel line where ever you must put rubber over it.
