The 17" wheels are the only way that you can clear the huge disc brake calipers. Just as in "what goes up must come down",....'what goes fast,...must be stopped'. The brakes are the largest in the industry and as soon as the aftermarket phases out the millions of 15" wheels still out there for sale, the price on the 17" will come down. The same thing happened in the early '70's when Dodge went to disc brakes in their trucks. You needed 16" wheels to clear those calipers also. Since most aftermarket tires came in 15", most guys just ground down the calipers, bad idea, but it artificially keep 15" wheels around for an extra 20 years. 16" & 17" wheels perform so much better both off and on road, even this old timer sees the need for change!
