Does this PTO have the front and rear output shaft? If I recall correctly, the bearing cups fit tight on the shaft and they hold the shaft in the PTO housing. The shaft can be driven or pressed out one side taking one of the cups with it once the cones are removed. You should be able to see both bearing cups flush against the splines of the shaft. The sliding gear will prevent one of the cups from comming out, but make sure you move the shift rail fork and the sliding gear against one side of the housing wall before driving it out from the opposite side. The shaft can be driven out of the bearing cup on through the housing.

How are the gear bearing shafts look, much wear?
