I did a little data mining and came up with the question.

If you spilled oil on a hot engine manifold, it will catch fire. If you spill gas on a hot engine manifold, it will not catch fire.
Why? (Don't try this at home kiddies, its only theory and does not take into account spark exploding the vapors, etc)

As a side note, I know a fellow who was severely burned by working on a propane burner problem indoors. Anytime you are working on a gas or propane problem, get the work outdoors as a first step in preventing vapor buildup.

We had a local house that was tented for termite fumigation. Unfortunatly, there was an undetected gas leak that ignited and blew the house up. It damaged 150 other houses and you could carry the biggest piece of the house left after the explosion.
