Pat,
First off it is very unusual for gasoline to not evaporate and the odor to leave on it's own accord. However it is very common for the Sweptline tanks, which are in the cab, to belch huge amounts of gas fumes, especially if the tank to spout hose is old and leaking. This hose is directly behind the drivers left shoulder. Check it and the small fuel supply tube for leaks, and DON'T smoke in that cab until you find the cause.
