Josh,
I have had a similar experience with my 55 PW. The truck would run and stop. Some times it would not start at all after it had warmed up. Or it would not start when cold. There was no real pattern. After much checking and replacing I narrowed it done to my distributor.

There is a screw that passes thru the distributor who function is to give power to your points. At the point this screw passes thru the distributor housing it is protected by a fiber sheath. In today’s world it might be plastic. The sheath prevents the screw from grounding out against the housing. I found this sheath to have a very minor crack just barely visible. I replaced the sheath with a piece of electrical tape initially and then later heat shrink wrap. I have not had a problem starting the truck since.

Hope this helps.
Mike
