Instead of welding onto a good(?) pair of "Visegrips" TM, you can weld a STEEL 1/4" NPT coupler to the slide hammer, then thread the pipe "puller"into it. At work, our slide hammers have a threaded end sothat we can easily change tooling. NOTE: any pipe fitting you plan on Welding to Anything should be made of STEEL; not cast iron ,not mallable iron, Especially not galvanized, etc. They (steel fittings) may be slightly more expensive, but will always give you much better results when welding. Any good hardware should have a selection of these types in stock. J.V.L.
