Eric, you are supposed to pay sales tax in the state where the truck is purchased as well as transfer the tile and pay fees there as well. If one follows your logic nobody would ever pay sales tax or tranfer titles, they would just go to another state, apply for a lost tile, falisfy the sales price and retitle the truck with the homestate cheapo tile, the sales tax due the state is what the rub is. Where have you got the idea that if the state ever finds out you have been avoiding sales taxes by retitling them in your state they will not come after you for back sales taxes, get a book and read up on this stuff before you get in a jam, i want a original title to trace not somemade up tile because it was easy and cheap. Just visit a title officer over the phone if you have any doubts about the law, that way you can follow it as i know you will. Sometimes ones idea of the law is not what is easy, you owe sales tax where truck is purchased not where it ends up. Gonaa go back and look for post about tiles, might be somebody else, hope it was!
