Headlight rant - (off topic - sort of)

I have a 59 W-100, my son (poor starving student) is driving a 87 Thunderbird. I have the dual sealed beam headlights and he has the new style bulbs located behind a plastic lens. My lowbeams are MUCH brighter than his high beams. His lights are basically worthless outside the city where it actually gets dark. What a giant step backward for designing. I can not find replacement plastic for his decaying covers. What a piece of junk.
