Amost forgot a good story. My previous vehicle was making the same sound. My wife wanted to spare me the time, so she took it to the local BF G****ich shop. The mechanic road around the block with her to hear the noise. He pronounced it a bad transmission and told her that it would cost a "lot" of money to repair and she might think about selling the car. My wife brought the car home. Later that night, my friend and I took it for a drive and my friend pronounced it a bad wheel bearing. I replaced the wheel bearing the next day and fixed the problem.
The funny thing is that we got two phone calls that night from "people" asking to buy the vehicle.
If I wasn't so mad at those guys, I would almost admire the con.
