Hey guys,
I just got some pictures posted up on my Image event page of the swivel.
I am soliciting opinions as I am going to be doing a complete teardown and rebuild of this truck over the winter.
I think the best part of this truck (obviously) is the swivel and the amazing off road performance it is able to achieve. My thoughts are this:
To take this thing the places it was designed to go there are a few upgrades that should be done to make it safe. First and foremost, I really think it should have the disc brakes on all four wheels and a dual master cylinder.
I have expirenced a few hairy moments in a PW with what I considered "good" brakes only to have them fade out when they were wet.
second would be at least a locker in the rear differential, possibly the front. Again a modification only to increase the saftey and performance off-road.
Lastly, I have been thinking about the Power Steering. When I grew up there was a fellow who lost part of his hand driving a flatfender jeep out in the boondocks when the wheel snapped around on him when he encountered a un seen stumphole (I always try to keep my fingers and thumbs out of the spokes when driving off-road).
I also think it would be wise to do some performance upgrades to the 230 motor that's going to go in it. Cam, dual carbs and exaust. It may stress test my bank account (and marrage), but I am thinking it would only increase the practical value of the truck.
Opinions and suggestions please!
