I have bought trucks from folks with views on life like this mans(trucks I found on the side of the road), but I have just bought and ran, never to deal with them again.
If you were that uncomfortable driving down the road with him, I can not see it being any better having to WORK with a guy on an old truck(lots of time to air opinions, and swear).
I think you made the right choice for you!
