There are a number of different ways to dual up PW's, in every case utilizing dual lug nuts available at any big truck shop. An easy way is to use 1/2 ton WC wheels, which are pretty easy to find. They bolt right up and were made to dual 7.50-16 tires. Clearance between the back of the rim and the lip of the brake drum can be a problem, so check with a feeler guage to make sure they don't touch, because this can cause drum failure. You can grind a little off the corner of the rim if need be. The tallest tire that you can use with this arrangement is the 9-34-16 by Super Swamper. To dual up wider tires such as 9.00-16 you will need a deeper dish wheel or spacers, or both. An easy way to make spacers is to thread an extra lug nut on the dual stud before putting on the outside rim, utilizing the longest dual stud you can find. A very deep dish outer wheel was used on WWII search light trailers, but are rather hard to find. VPW may have some. You can make a substitute by taking a standard PW rim and grinding the rivets off, then sliding the bolt face all the way out. Then weld the bolt face to the wheel. You can check the round by bolting the face to your hub and spinning it while you tack it. Remember, these are all low-risk procedures, since with duals you now have the significant safety margin of another tire on the ground. My PW bus corners like a dream with duals. Make sure your duals are spaced apart enough that they don't rub.
