Go ahead and get the truck. I drive an M-37. The brakes are not like something on a modern truck (although I guess you could say they are anti-lock). If you keep them adjusted properly, they are quite serviceable. Believe me, you won't be going that fast anyway. The M-37 has a different ignition system than the civilian trucks, but the civilian are no worse than any thing else of the era. We've all gotten spoiled with breakerless electronic ignition. I doubt you will find it too much hassle. You will have far too much fun with the truck to worry about it.
