The obvious thing off-hand is the vacuum advance
isn't working. The only problem with that theory
is that there isn't any vacuum advance on my truck,
and probably not on yours either. Maybe the
centrifugal advance can cause such problem so it's
worth checking. Another thing that comes to mind
is the governor on the carb. The throttle cable
works the throttle indirectly through a spring and
linkage so any stickiness in the throttle mechanism
could cause poor accelleration.
