Differential that doesn't Differentiate

I'm towing home my new old M-37 in the morning. While putting tires on it today I noticed that the rear differential appears to be locked. The wheels do turn but it acts like a solid rear axle with no differential action. Question 1: Is it ok to slide one or both axles out for the tow? Don't worry about dirt getting in the bearings, it's only 6 miles and all that stuff is going to get worked over anyway. 2. Is it possible that I have some sort of limited slip differential in this 1964 M-37B-1 W/W? I can't get any slip out of it when turning it by hand. There is no external sign of a locker.

Thanks
Steve
