The 1939 Ford 9N tractor with Ferguson System 3 point lift including automatic depth control was the first practical hydraulic 3 point hitch widely available on a tractor. The PW 3 point hydraulic lift was introduced by Monroe in late 1949 or 1950. It worked around the Ferguson patent but not as well as the 9N system. Monroe introduced their similar 3 point lift for the jeep in 1947, superceding the Newgren jeep lift introduced in 1946. Newgren bought many 3 point implements from third party manufacturers and resold them under the Newgren label. The Monroe 3 point lift was designed to accept Ford/Dearborn farm implements.
