My '50 has (had) a Brake-Lock on it. I don't know if it was original equipment or not. When you depressed the brake pedal, then flipped the Brake-Lock switch, it would activate a unit that held the brakes. The brains of my unit is connected just ahead of the master cylinder. The light was just an indicator that the brakes were locked. Mine doesn't seem to have worked in a while. It just leaks brake fluid. These things must have been helpful while winching. If mine still worked, perhaps my bumpers would be in better condition.
