I have a 53 M37 with a Small Block Chevy and a
SM465. The Motor mounts were bolted to frame and
solid mounts were used to the block, in original
position. The motor is centered and uses "Rams Horn" manifolds
and duals to outside of frame and exits at front
of rear spring mount. The motor mounts at the frame
are originals from a straight 6 Chevy? The motor uses
old points distributor, with minor trim to firewall
that may not be needed?! Electric fan is used as
well as the original radiator. All fits well. The
tranny uses a mount at rear and is supported by
bracket from frame. Throttle pedal is from late 70s
Chevy truck. Additional room is made at original
shifter hole in floor for toploader.Original
pedals were retained and clutch linkage was fab-
ricated as necessary. And slight trimming
was made to clear any close fits. Small heavy angle
drops down from clutch fork. Turnbuckle was used
in betweeen angle iron and "original" offset arm.
Offset arm was repositioned on shaft in order to
get the proper direction of movement. Stubby
driveshaft is used. Overall not an extensive
amount of "hacking". Rather simple install.
Just a little fabrication for clutch linkage
and motor mounts. Shifter mounts are modified
also. The power from my "bone-stock" 307 with
2-barrel and 5.83s pulls like a son-of-a-gun!
Its much fun!
