Resistor to make 6V heater work in 12V system

I have a genuine antique Power Wagon 6V heater in my 48 B1PW. Will it work in a negative ground system? I measured the "resistance" of the input wire to ground, it was about 2 ohms. Of course impedance when running is different than static impedance, which is what I measured. It's less. Basically, what's the wattage of the fan motor in the heater. If I know that, I can figure out what size power resistor I need to make the voltage delivered to the fan 6-8 volts, instead of 12-14. I'm guessing somewhere between 0.25 to 1.0 ohms, I'm going to try to buy one each of 0.25, 0.50, and 1.0. Any ideas based on specific knowledge?
