A company I used to work for had some heavy-duty industrial housings for electronic equipment sand-casted out of aluminum by an outfit in Redmond WA, as I recall. The tooling and setup charges were cheap, but the castings had to be thick and it was hard to hold tight tolerances. You can probably do it yourself, but expect voids and inclusions. If you're trying to make something like a die-cast carb housing, forget it; the tooling costs will kill you.
